The Multimedia Collaborative Benchmark Effort (MCBE) continues to progress in its work to establish an industry-standard, system-level benchmark for measuring the performance of major multimedia applications. Nineteen companies are currently participating or have expressed strong interest in participating in this effort.
The MCBE's benchmark will be designed to be scalable and cross-platform; source code will be available for free to the public. The group expects to have V1.0 of the benchmark completed by the end of the year.
The group's next meeting will be during WinHEC '97, April 8-10, in San Francisco. For more information about the MCBE, contact Alan Weiss by e-mail or phone (512-891-6003) or Ahmad Zandi by e-mail or phone (408-774-8569).
