With its Viewperf benchmark firmly established and GLperf ready to go public, the OPC project group began looking ahead to next-generation benchmarks at its August 22 meeting in Boulder, Colo.
A volunteer working group within the OPC project group has been formed for preliminary investigations into new benchmarking areas. Efforts that are being considered for the future include application benchmarking, an OpenGL capture and playback benchmark based on the same concept as the X Playback Benchmark (XPB) being developed by the XPC project group, a "Viewperf II" benchmark based on the VRML file format, and a benchmark that measures both graphics and CPU load performance.
As always, the OPC project group welcomes input from all those interested in graphics performance benchmarking.
