The H3C UniServer R4900G6 Ultra is 2U rackmount server powered by dual Intel Xeon Platinum 8592+ processor with 128 cores (2x 64cores). The server provides more processing power with Hyper-Threading enabled by default in BIOS to enable 256 threads. The server supports high memory bandwidth memory technology with 32 DIMMs of 5600 MT/s DDR5 memory. Local storage supports up to 18 standard PCIe slots and up to 45 hard disk slots, of which only 24 slots are supported by NVMe SSD. 96% power supply energy efficiency and a standard operating temperature design of 5 ℃ to 45 ℃ can provide users with higher energy efficiency returns.

Stable Storage

The XFS file system provides journaling support for filesystem protection.

Solution Under Test Configuration Notes

The benchmark was run on a single H3C UniServer R4900G6 Ultra server with local NVMe storage disks. RAID-0 config was created using the drives and XFS filesystem was set up on the RAID-0. RHEL-9.0 OS was installed on a SATA SSD. There were no additional external clients or storage devices or network devices were connected to this setup. The system has dual Intel Xeon Platinum 8592+ processor with 128 cores (2x 64cores), and 4x UMIS UH811a NVMe SSD were connected to run this benchmark. The testing was done with Hyper-Threading enabled in BIOS to enable 256 threads for more processing power.

Other Solution Notes

None

Dataflow

This single server setup has a RAID-0 partition created on the local storage drives and XFS file system was created on the RAID. Data gets written directly on to the XFS filesystem and on to the NVMe storage devices. No other external storage device was used.

Other Notes

The benchmark was run on a single H3C UniServer R4900G6 Ultra server using its local NVMe drives. No other client systems, or external storage devices or networking devices were connected to this test system. Benchmarking was done on Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 9.0 (Plow) using the default kernel 5.14.0-70.22.1.el9_0.x86_64.

The Spectre or Meltdown (CVE-2017-5754, CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715) fix were applied to CPU and OS by vendors.
