SPEC

SPEC Membership

SPEC is a consortium comprised of members all over the world who have joined one or more groups in our organization.

Embedded Group (EG)

SPEC’s Embedded Group, EG (formerly EEMBC), develops industry-standard benchmarks for the hardware and software used in autonomous driving, mobile imaging, the Internet of Things, mobile devices, and many other applications. Benchmark suites are developed by working groups of our members who share an interest in developing clearly defined standards for measuring the performance and energy efficiency of embedded processor implementations, from IoT edge nodes to next-generation advanced driver-assistance systems.

Graphics and Workstation Performance Group (GWPG)

The Graphics & Workstation Performance Group, GWPG, supports the development of a range of graphics and workstation benchmarks that have a value to the user and vendor communities. GWPG develops three separate projects: GPC focuses on graphics performance benchmarks for systems running under OpenGL, DX, and potentially other application programming interfaces, APC focuses on professional-level graphics and workstation applications, and WPC addresses broader workstation performance benchmarks.

High Performance Group (HPG)

The SPEC High-Performance Group, HPG, develops benchmarks that: represent large, real applications, in scientific and technical computing, use industry standard parallel application programming interfaces (APIs), OpenMP and MPI support shared-memory and message passing programming paradigms, can evaluate shared-memory computers, distributed-memory computers and workstation clusters as well as traditional massively parallel processor computers, come in several data sets sizes (from a few minutes to days of execution time), allow for certain hand optimizations of the codes (as opposed to compiler-only optimizations)

Research Group (RG)

SPEC’s Research Group, RG, serves as a platform for collaborative research efforts in the area of quantitative system evaluation and analysis, fostering the interaction between industry and academia in the field. The scope of the group includes computer benchmarking, performance evaluation, and experimental system analysis in general, considering both classical performance metrics such as response time, throughput, scalability and efficiency, as well as other non-functional system properties included under the term dependability, e.g., availability, reliability, and security.
